The Most Magical Place On Earth

Posted in Family, Ramblings by amyelizabethphotography on 01/21/2010

DISNEYLAND!

Oh, how I love Disneyland. I don’t like the phrase “it’s Disneyland for adults”..I think Disneyland is for adults too. I do get though that part of the charm is nostalgic when you are older, so after a certain age if you have never been.. it might not be as fun.

As we all (in the West at least..) know, the weather has been CRAZY lately. Well, the weather was pretty crazy during this trip. We swam through Disneyland, basically. We were there for two days, and it rained on both of them. Upside: the longest we ever waited for a ride was 20 minutes, most rides were walk-ons. Downside:                               Soaking.Wet.

I had great great fun with my new Fuji Instax Mini 7s. If you have not heard about this amazing camera, It is basically the new Polaroid. It prints out credit card sized mini photos that develop in about two minutes. It’s like a little present every time.

(I at this time do not have a working scanner..only three broken ones. Any tech savvy people out there?)

The little yellow things on the side of my and David’s heads are Winnie-the-Pooh ears. I decided to take a little bit different route than everyone else at Disneyland with their mickey mouse ears. Like ‘em’?

Great find of the trip:

La Galette Creperie in San Clemente, CA
I absolutely LOVE crepes. I used to go to a little place called European Connection, may she rest in peace, that had the most scrumptious crepes. Ever since, I have been on the look out for new crepe places. If you make it to this place, I suggest the Chicken Fuji, Campfire Crepe, and Farmer’s Breakfast.

Also, it is located right off the beach. Always good :)

Cafe 222

In Downtown San Diego, CA

A delicious breakfast cafe (they serve lunch too) that won’t leave you hungry.

The Cafe is set in an adorable little area with brightly colored walls and cute accessories, such as chandeliers made with spoons and tea cups. Does it get any cuter?

I would recommend trying the Peanut Butter and Banana Stuffed French Toast.

They have also been featured on Food Network, pretty exciting.

2010

Posted in Ramblings by amyelizabethphotography on 01/14/2010

So we are a little bit into 2010 now, and so far, so good.

I didn’t really make any “resolutions” at the beginning of the year, that’s not really my thing. I would rather have goals all the time, than ones just in January.

One thing that is kind of like a goal though, is I am going to start a 2010 reading list that will include things I want to read this year, and things I have read this year.

My mom keeps list of all the books she reads. At first I thought this sounded tedious and silly. I tried it though and it really helps. It feels good to see all the books you have read because, if you are like me, unless I own it and can see it on my bookshelf I forget. These kind of lists are also good just for reference.

So here is the start of my 2010 to read/have read reading list. (italics books are completed for the year)

The Summer Of the Great Grandmother, Madeline L’Engle
The Irrational Season, Madeline L’Engle
Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis
Surprised By Joy, C.S. Lewis
A  Long Obedience, Eugene H. Peterson
The Question Of God, Dr. Armand M. Nicholi Jr.
The Singer,  Calvin Miller
The Song, Calvin Miller
The Finale, Calvin Miller
Les Miserable, Victor Hugo
The Brothers Karamazov, Fyodor Dosteovsky
Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte
Moby Dick, Herman Melville
The Confessions of St. Augustine
Maybe some Jane Austen
Mythology, Edith Hamilton
Great Classical Myths
East, Edith Pattou
Something by Kierkegaard
Something by Tolstoy
More Anne Lamott
More Poetry.. Any Poetry.
Many Cookbooks
Many Photography Books, hopefully more technical ones

I am sure this list will be expanded.. and some of it might be over ambitious.

Picture Adventures

Posted in People, Photos by amyelizabethphotography on 12/26/2009

Amanda came to visit for a while recently. The last time she was here it was in the middle of summer, which means miserable weather. It was nice to do things outside this time.

We went on a picture adventure with David. Pictures were a group effort, and we all had a little crash course in photography.

And a very merry christmas it was

Hope you all had a great Christmas :)

Giant Book

Posted in Ramblings, The Etc.'s by amyelizabethphotography on 12/14/2009

So I had been keeping a lookout on this book at my nearbyAnthropologie.

Now, this is not any ordinary book. For one, it is completely blank, and two, it is GIANT (about 2 1/2 ft long with a 3 inch width)

I had fallen in love with it at first site, but considering how odd it is I didn’t want to just buy it on impulse. So I returned and looked again… and again. Then it went on sale. That is a sign, right?

Anyways, to sum it up: I now have a beautiful huge book to, as I said to David, “Paint all my hopes and dreams in”
